If you are planning a vacation to St. Maarten / St. Martin / St. Barths, and would like to stay in touch while on the island, you can easily do so with your own cellular phone, or a rental phone.

When on island, you can activate credit-card roamer service by dialing "0" on your cellular phone. Charges will be billed to your credit card (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express) and an invoice will be mailed to your home. Or if you would like to pre-register your phone ahead of time, you can print our roamer application and fax it to us toll free or fill out our online email form. Our calls cost much less than the same calls from a hotel phone.

Visitors who bring a cellular phone may dial 911 for a police emergency even if the phone is not registered.

East Caribbean Cellular frequency allocation is "System B Home Only" (System ID #31396), this is to prevent frequency pick-up from non-subscriber channels. For information on how to switch your phone to the B channel, refer to the cellular phone user's manual. "K" RATE: LONG TERM ROAMERS (30-Day Minimum) MAY REGISTER FOR A PERMANENT CELLULAR PHONE NUMBER AND WILL BE BILLED AT THE REDUCED "K" RATE. THE MONTHLY FEE REDUCES TO $15 DURING MONTHS OF NO ACTIVITY.

Bills indicate the phone number dialed, time of day, and duration of each call. There is no charge for busy or unanswered calls. No monthly charge for Voice-Mail service, Call-Forwarding, or 3-Way Conferencing. There is no charge for the first 10 seconds of local incoming calls.

* The indicated USADirect rate is for local airtime access only and is in addition to the AT&T overseas toll charges. The airtime is billed separately by ECC and begins when the U.S. operator answers. AT&T and MCI calling-card services include collect calls, 800-numbers, World-Connect Service, U.S. directory assistance, and recorded message delivery.

SERVICE VIA FRANCE TELECOM: Roamers on French St. Martin and St. Barthelemy may request a French cellphone number with local-exchange services via France Telecom.

For Dutch to French (& vice-versa) cellular-to-cellular calls, you may directly dial the local 7-digit Dutch (or 14-digit French) numbers (International prefixes are not required). St. Maarten Boatphone cellular coverage area on AMPS System "B" includes Dutch St .Maarten, French St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, and the Anguilla Channel. Other "B" affiliated locations offering credit-card roaming includes St. Thomas & St. Croix. GSM-900 service is available in St. Barth, Guadeloupe and Martinique. Nextel and PCS-1900 service is not available in the Caribbean.
